Mandatory Workshop: Precious Knowledge FULL
Limited Capacity full

Education has always been a contested site for social and political struggles and given the climate that we currently find ourselves in, education or discussions about knowledge can become important sites to share, develop, and put forth ideas and actions. In this workshop, participants will explore and delve into the historical backdrop of the Mexica cosmology, the Nahui Ollin.  This worldview played a fundamental roll in the success of the renowned Mexican American Raza Studies Department, in how students/teachers came to humanize self and others and as a by byproduct, student achievement was maximized, thereby eliminating the achievement or opportunity gap.  We will also engage in a conscientization activity examining Paulo Freire’s levels of consciousness.
